To download a product driver, simply click on the filename. Most driver archives are provided in a .ZIP archive, you will need WINZIP to extract the files. (Available from www.winzip.com)

To ensure maximum compatibility between Shintaro DVD-/+R/RW media and your DVD recorder, it is advised that you update to the latest firmware available. Firmware updates can be usually found on the SUPPORT pages of the manufacturer of your drive. Below you will find some shortcuts and/or direct download links to firmware updates for common drives.

DVD Region Info - please download this 7KB file to discover what version of firmware your DVD-ROM or DVD Recorder is running, so you can update it if there is a newer version. This program will also show you what DVD Region your drive is set to, as well as how many more times you can change the region setting (usually 4 times).

1. Installation:

It is recommend that any devices installed in external cases have their jumper settings put to MASTER. Look on your Hard Drive or DVD for the instructions about the jumper settings.

2. Hard Drive preparation and usage under Windows XP / 2000:

Hard Drives in an external case must be partitioned and formatted by Windows before they can be accessed.
Go to the CONTROL PANEL
Click on ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS
Click COMPUTER MANAGEMENT
Click DISK MANAGEMENT
You should be prompted to allow Windows to Mark the Disk Drive, answer Yes.
Click on the new Drive listed in the right-hand window and PARTITION the drive (NTFS recommended).
When the drive has finished FORMATTING, it will be accessible to all Windows applications.

3. Fix for Windows ME/2000/XP if your External USB Case and Hard Drive are not detected. Click here to download file.
Please ensure you have the correct firmware before installation. Un-Install the old version from your system before installing the new version of drivers and application.
